The Pleated Trouser

A single forward pleat, a fuller thigh and a gentle taper to the ankle — the pleated trouser may be having its moment, but it has in truth been correct for the better part of a century. Cut from a refined wool blend with beautiful, fluid drape, it lends ease and elegance in equal and unhurried measure.

The pleat releases comfortably when you sit and falls clean and flat when you stand, while the higher rise lengthens the line of the leg and pairs naturally with tucked knitwear and shirting. We fitted side adjusters in place of belt loops, for a cleaner waist and a more finished silhouette, and lined the seat for comfort and longevity.

Worn with the cashmere turtleneck and Chelsea boots, it is perhaps the most quietly sophisticated trouser in the collection — relaxed in spirit, exacting in cut, and flattering in a way that belted trousers rarely manage.
